Air Springs for Vibration Isolation

Toolern Engineering Supplies PTY LTD supply air springs that make very low natural frequencies possible, from 0.5 to 3.5 Hz depending on the type. With loads ranging from 0.5 kN to more than 440 kN, air isolators provide effective mounts for sensitive measuring instruments as well as heavy foundations.

Applications include:

  • diesel engines, generators
  • foundation mounts
  • heavy machinery
  • measuring instruments
  • power looms
  • vehicle test rigs
  • washing machines

Vertical natural freq. of approx. 1.5Hz. Where required, freq. of approx. 0.5Hz are also possible. By correctly setting the spring rate values, it is possible to specifically avoid resonance. Height adjustment makes it possible to level the vehicle.
Shields load cells from the influence of external vibration and jolts; maintains consistent operating height for transfer stations regardless of the respective load. With a natural frequency of 1.5 Hz, isolates exciter frequencies exceeding 200 1/min or 3.3 Hz.

Allows sensitive equipment to be operated with no interference thanks to vertical natural frequency of 1.5 Hz.

Consistent vibration characteristics, even when load varies. Long service life, even under rugged ambient conditions.

Provides a comfortable ride to
relieve operators of disturbing
vibrational stress.

Advantages:

Constant operating height
The operating height of air springs can be adjusted via the air pressure, regardless of the load. There is no static deflection as with other spring components. A user-friendly, automatically
functioning control system guarantees a uniform operating height, even in the case of alternating loads.
Lateral stability
Air springs have
excellent lateral stability. Isolators attain a lateral rigidity of up to
100% of the vertical rigidity, depending on the type.

Load-independent isolation properties
The spring stiffness is proportional to the load capacity. Vibration isolation is virtually independent of the load, so natural frequencies remain constant even with fluctuating loads. The broad load range of air isolators provides possibilities for standardising the spring types in assembly families.

Low installation height
Air isolators have
a low design height and no static deflection.
